Inspiration does not exist. It’s a lie. Inspiration is not real. True inspiration is the kind that leads to immediate action. Inspiration that leads to nothing tangible is… nothing.
There’s something tangible standing between an idea and something being realised.
That something is YOU.
YOU ARE THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN FEELING WARM AND FUZZY INSIDE AND ACTUAL, REAL LIFE MAGIC.

In this episode, we talk about
Inspiration is as real as the tooth fairy
All over the internet we have sites that promise inspiration.
Inspiration does not exist.
TRUE INSPIRATION IS THE KIND THAT LEADS TO IMMEDIATE ACTION.
INSPIRATION THAT LEADS TO NOTHING TANGIBLE IS NOTHING.
IT’S ONLY SOMETHING WHEN IT LEADS TO SOMETHING.
Society has changed the definition of the word to the warm fuzzies you receive when looking at something you like.
Until you actually do something tangible with this idea, “inspiration” is as useful as the Tooth Fairy.
There’s something tangible standing between an idea and something being realised.
That something is YOU.
YOU ARE THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN FEELING WARM AND FUZZY INSIDE AND ACTUAL, REAL LIFE MAGIC.
Ideas count for nothing.
Inspiration is nothing.
Motivation is nothing.
You know what’s something?
Action.
Discipline.
Self-motivation.
Habit.
FORCING YOURSELF TO DO IT EVEN THOUGH CONDITIONS ARE NOT PERFECT.
Guess what? No one feels like it.
Beyonce didn’t get where she got because she had 25 hours in a day. She didn’t get where she is because she felt like it every day.
She got there… and you can get there… by showing up.
And showing up again.
And again.
If we waited for the right conditions, nothing would get done.
Maybe once in a blue moon, which is about as often as you feel inspired.
If you start working, you’ll feel inspired eventually.
If you wait for that inspiration before you start working, it’s not gonna happen very often.
THE BEST THINGS COME OUT OF WILDLY IMPERFECT SITUATIONS.
Try it. See how much you get done when you have nothing to do, and when you have limitations.
Stop making excuses for yourself.
Everyone has similar opportunities thanks to the internet.
It’s not easy.
It’s only easy if you’re willing to put in the action and the discipline and work.
NO ONE WHO HAS EVER DONE ANYTHING INTERESTING WITH THEIR LIFE HAS RELIED ON INSPIRATION.
Someone out there knows more than you because they have put the time in during imperfect moments.
It’s that simple.
Your time reflects your values.
It’s totally okay if your values are not making art.
But don’t lie to yourself and say that you’re too busy to make art or that you’re not inspired enough.
We both know that Instagram will not inspire you to creating. It’s the biggest source of inspiration at the moment, but all we do is lie down and move our thumbs to scroll down the feed.
It’s not fair to think that someone who is devoting 12 hours a day to painting is “lucky”.
She’s given something up that you haven’t had to.
