The breakfast of art journaling (How to make your first art journal page)
You may have already created art journal pages, and if you have, GO YOU – you artist you.
When we say first, we mean that this technique can be used if it’s the first time you’ve ever even opened an art journal, if it’s the first time sitting down to create after a major art drought, or if it’s your first page that day and you need a warm up.
It’s the first thing you can create in a day, but it isn’t resigned to the start. This is the breakfast of art journal prompts, and oh boy are we part of the breakfast club.
Mmmmm…. poached eggs…
Anyways. We’re getting distracted. Here is your surefire way to create an art journal page without too much thinking.
We want you to follow a recipe. Think of it like baking… we give you the steps feel free to be as liberal or as precise with this recipe as you feel like.
The best part about art recipes is that you can follow them a million times and have a different result each time. It prevents you from thinking too much and just having fun with your art.
Messy Recipe
Smear some paint down on the page in one of your favourite colours
Use a piece of paper from your day and add it to the page
Write down words that you heard recently that have stuck with you
Create a blind contour sketch
Caylee'S TAKE ON THE RECIPE
(My small German village isn’t a fan of bread beyond bread. It’s delicious, but I would give pretty much anything for eggs benedict.)
- Paper from my day from Grace and Salt Ink
- Song I was listening to
Amy's take on the recipe
I love Greek yogurt, berries, and peanut butter. And a skim latte. Always a latte.
Vanessa'S TAKE ON THE RECIPE
Here is my take on this lovely recipe.
PS: I’m a big oats or poached egg fan for breakfast!
