What is art journaling to you?

For me, art journaling goes so much further than making art. Art journaling gave me a purpose in life when I didn’t feel like I was enough for the world. It gave me a purpose to get out of bed each morning and to enjoy the world again. Art journaling really is my therapy and my ultimate way to process everything that’s going on in my life.

What does community do for your art?

The way the art journal community is so supportive has been super efficient for my art journaling process. I came from a place where it felt like I didn’t belong. When I started sharing my art with the community I found people who were just as passionate as me. Talking about art with other people always makes me feel so inspired. Because of the community, I learned to be less critical about my work.

Anouk is one of the incredible teachers at Get Messy. She shares her art and her heart in the Season of Vulnerability.
