Classes FAQ

DOES IT MATTER IF YOUR FACE IS ON CAMERA?

Do you need your face to teach? Nope. And so this is not at all necessary.

However. This is really beneficial.

Digital marketing is about people. People follow you because they like you, what you stand for, and your art. Giving them a bit of insight into who you are.

Face to camera brings in a personal element. You are no longer hands on a table. You’re a human and they are able to match a face to the voice.
I HATE making face to camera videos because I am very self conscious.

It’s kind of like online dating and doing a FaceTime.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE ADVERTISE THE CLASS AND MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE? IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO OFFER A DISCOUNT? GIVEAWAYS?

This is all up to you.

I am less about “advertising” and more about organic, enthusiastic sharing as I would be for a piece of art. Here is how I do it:

  • share that I’m working on a class, and share behind the scenes as soon as I start working on it actively
  • create a presale 1 month before
  • actively talk about it for that month

I am fervently against discounts. I would hate to make anyone who has purchased the class feel terrible because someone who bought at a later stage paid less. I reward those who are quicker. For me, it’s full price or free.

Get Messy has one sale on Black Friday, it’s only on classes and never on the membership.

I will bundle my classes, but never offer a straight discount.

I offer an early bird discount for those who definitely want the class as a reward for action.

These are all my opinions, and how I’ve chosen to do things over time. I don’t want to impact your choices with this. Marketing is a very personal thing. Do what feels right to you and stick to it.
